About me

On my blog, I dive into personal finance, entrepreneurship, and building the habits that set you up for success as a young adult. Whether it’s creating a budget, launching a side hustle, or building a positive money mindset, I’m here to share practical tips and ideas that I’ve learned along the way.

Who I am

I’m Austin Harvey, a sophomore at Hope College, currently majoring in Business Finance. My curiosity about personal finance and entrepreneurship inspired me to create this blog, where I break down complex financial topics into practical, relatable advice for college students and young adults.

As a cornerback for the Hope College Football team, I’ve learned the importance of discipline, resilience, and teamwork—skills that shape how I approach not only sports but also life and finances.

I understand the challenges of balancing school, extracurriculars, and figuring out your financial future. Through this blog, I share my journey as a college student navigating budgeting, student loans, side hustles, and everything in between. My goal is to connect with readers like you who are learning how to manage money, build opportunities, and set themselves up for success in the years to come.

When I’m not busy with school, football, or the blog, I enjoy staying active, spending time with friends, and exploring new ideas that spark creativity. This platform isn’t just a project—it’s a way for me to inspire and empower others on the same path.

Why I Decided to Create This

The reason why I started this blog was because I realized so many young adults, like myself, are figuring out how to manage money, make big decisions, and plan for the future—and it can feel overwhelming. My goal is to make those challenges easier by sharing what works for me and inspiring others to take charge of their financial journeys. I have found myself scouring the internet looking for advice a student based financial website that had very basic information. What I found was many websites structured like mine, had complex information that took extensive research in order to break down the steps in which they were trying to convey. I wanted to create a platform so that students and young adults can move past the extra steps and not feel overwhelmed with the complexities of managing their personal finances. My blog is for people just starting out—like me. We’re learning together!

My Goals for this Blog

My mission is simple: to make personal finance approachable and relatable for college students and young adults. I aim to break down complex financial topics into easy-to-follow steps, sharing my journey as a college student navigating the world of money management. From tackling student loans to starting side hustles, I want to show that building a solid financial foundation is possible, even on a student budget.

This blog is designed to resonate with your experiences—managing a part-time job, saving for spring break, or starting with just $50 to invest. Unlike larger financial sites that often cater to older generations, my content is tailored specifically to your needs, like budgeting in college, finding internships, or planning for life after graduation.

I aim to make topics like budgeting and investing less intimidating and more accessible. My goal is to empower you with practical, actionable advice that helps you take control of your finances and build the life you want.
